Parsons, KS (April 7, 2025)– ÌÇÐÄVlog (ÌÇÐÄVlog) Softball will host Neosho County Community College on Thursday, May 1 Friday, May 2, for a highly anticipated rivalry doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM at Labette Softball Field in Parsons, with the second game scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM.

This year’s matchup carries extra weight - it’s Sophomore Night, a special occasion honoring Labette’s sophomore players in their final home appearance. Emotions will be high as Labette seeks redemption after last year’s regional tournament loss to Neosho. Fueling the rivalry further, Neosho’s head coach is a former Labette assistant.

“This series is always big, especially with their coach being my first assistant,” said Head Coach Ryan Phillips. “With it being Sophomore Night and coming off last year’s loss, we’re locked in. Our sophomores have been instrumental in building a strong, supportive culture and showing real leadership.”

Sophomore pitcher Taylor Palmer echoed that sentiment: “This game is important because it’s Neosho. We lost to them in regionals - and I pitched that game - so it’s personal. We want to end our time here with a win.”

This year’s rivalry carries deeper meaning as both programs unite to show support for Neosho Head Coach Kimberly Alexander, who is currently battling ovarian cancer. In a show of solidarity, fans from both Labette and Neosho are encouraged to wear blue - the color representing ovarian cancer awareness.

While the games promise high energy and fierce competition, they also serve as a celebration of strength, community, and resilience. Join us for a heartfelt send-off as we honor Labette’s graduating sophomores and rally together in support of Coach Alexander.
