According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, the 2024 median payÌýfor diagnostic medical sonographers wasÌý$82,570.ÌýEmployment is projected to grow 11% from 2023–2033 which is much faster than average for all occupations.
The necessity for training new sonographers is due toÌýa variety of things including, theÌýaging population and growing rates of chronic conditions.ÌýAnother reason for the rise is there are more opportunities for sonographers now emerging in physician offices and clinics.ÌýThis need is outpacing the supply of qualified sonographers resulting in shortages and recruitment challenges.
